1965 Jaguar S Type 3.8 S Manual

When launched, the S-Type was placed above Jaguar’s already successful Mark 2 in the line up. 

This car was larger, allowing for greater interior space. The rear quarter was altogether more streamlined and the front end slightly revised. The most notable and beneficial alteration over the outgoing Mark 2, was the independent rear suspension derived from the E-Type and MK X. Thanks to this the S-type offered class leading handling and comfort levels.  

 

The car offered for sale here is the best of the bunch in terms of it’s specification, being a 1965 3.8 S Manual with overdrive. Finished in Opalescent Dark Green with beautifully re-trimmed Beige leather upholstery. The interior woodwork is in lovely order as is the headlining, door cards, exterior chrome work, wheels and engine bay. This car has been nicely finished throughout and presents very well indeed.

 

This car certainly does not disappoint on it’s promise of class leading ride and handling, which is evident in this sharp and nicely set up example. Performance from it’s 3.8 six cylinder engine is extremely strong as one would expect. And for what is a very large and luxurious motorcar, it goes like hell when required to do so. Mated to the tight four speed manual gearbox with overdrive, this car has a sporting nature that isn’t entirely expected. 

 

A lovely motorcar which is ready to be used and enjoyed. A seriously appealing proposition when compared dynamically and financially to a Mark 2 of a similar standard.
