1957 Maserati 300S Recreation
Maserati built twenty-six 300S sports-racing cars between 1955 and 1959, with the model becoming one of the greatest 1950s sports racers ever made and helping solidify Maserati as one of the all time great race car manufacturers.
This Maserati 300S recreation has been built with fastidious detail by Paul Weldon of Church Green Engineering / Leiter Motor Company, who has restored a number of original Maserati sports-racers, including 300S chassis #3057.
The conversion was started over 15 years ago, with the Maserati DOHC straight-six engine being fully rebuilt to correct dry sump specification during 2017/18 by Maynard Engines of Stroud and now producing over 240bhp / 230 lbft of torque. Folders full of invoices document the astounding level of effort and detail that has gone into every part of the car.
Since completion, the car has attended a number of events and with the Maserati Owners Club inviting the car to be displayed in prime position on their stand at the Silverstone Classic in 2018.
With remarkable attention to detail and many parts replicated directly from an original car, this car captures the beauty, driving experience and ethos of the legendary 300S sports-racing car, at a fraction of the price of an original car.
