According to Alfa Romeo archives, this original right hand drive 2000 GTV was manufactured in February of 1974 and delivered to it’s supplying dealership, Bristol Street Motors of Nottingham in July of the same year.

In 1975 the vehicle was purchased and registered.

The original factory service booklet supplied with this car, shows that the first owner was rather methodical.

Early Service History:

  • June 1975 at 644 Miles

  • September 1975 at 3,628 Miles

  • February 1976 at 7,442 Miles

  • July 1976 at 10,603 Miles

  • December 1976 at 12,965 Miles

  • December 1977 at 18,324 Miles

At the time, Alfa Romeo service booklets did not have a prompt for dates to be recorded, however the owner ensured dates were documented along with the mileage.

Later on in the cars life Mr & Mrs Sismey, well known Alfa Romeo Owners Club associates took ownership of this GTV. Mrs Sismey played a crucial roll within the Owners Club, Mr Sismey was a former engineer and mechanic at BRM. This ensured that the car would be in safe hands during the full restoration that was to commence.

Work began in 1998 at  ‘Carsmiths’ of Norfolk.

In addition to the bare-metal, glass out restoration, the engine, gearbox and rear axle were rebuilt by marque specialist ‘Richard Drake’ of Norwich in 1999.

The cooling and braking systems were stripped and rebuilt, as were the suspension components. Finally, a Harvey Bailey handling kit was fitted.

Twelve years on, although the car was reported to still be in stunning order, a new owner decided some very light fettling was in order to bring the car back to the near perfect condition it is in today.

This car boasts a comprehensive history file containing many invoices and previous MOT certificates as well as important body and mechanical restoration invoices. The aforementioned Service booklet and factory handbook are also present. As well as a magazine article in which this car features and receives high praise.

Finished in red with black upholstery this example of the charming and incredibly useable 2000 GTV is as good as it get’s, and is ready to be cherished and enjoyed by it’s next keeper.
