The Maserati Merak arrived in 1972, more than a year after the firms larger sports car, the Bora was introduced. The two cars shared numerous components with one an other. Sporting a 3.0 V6 the Merak was an altogether smaller, more practical and more useable motorcar when compared to it’s sibling, the 4.7 litre V8 Bora. In addition to the obvious differences between the two, the smaller power plant in the Merak meant that two seats could be slotted into the extra interior space. Thus creating a genuinely useable 2+2. 

 

The example offered for sale here is one of a mere 300 original right hand drive cars, is currently showing just 44,800 miles and is in stunning order throughout. Finished in burgundy with beige leather upholstery, the bodywork and paint finish present extremely well. Upon arrival in the UK from it’s previous home in Australia, the car was immediately sent to renowned Maserati specialists ‘McGrath Maserati’ to ensure all mechanical aspects are in perfect fettle. 

 

This car drives beautifully, with all controls feeling tight and positive, as any good Merak should. It’s fantastically vocal 3.0 V6 remains strong, torquey and characterful.
